Audi is running “Commander”, a Super Bowl commercial connecting the Audi R8 V10 plus car with space exploration and David Bowie’s 1972 hit “Starman”. Surrounded by memories of the Space Age’s golden years, a retired astronaut has lost his zeal for life. But when his son shows up and hands over the keys to the new 205-mph Audi R8 V10 plus, a rocket ride under the stars stirs newfound life within the Commander. “Audi Commander” is designed to be a universal reminder that amazing things happen when we choose exploration, technology and the moon.
Honda is running a 60-second Super Bowl commercial for the 2017 Ridgeline truck, featuring a herd of sheep singing the Queen classic “Somebody to Love.” The commercial, “A New Truck to Love,” opens on a Ridgeline owner dropping sheep off to graze in a meadow. As soon he drives away with his herding dog in tow, the flock begins to sing the 1976 classic. They pause their harmonizing when their unsuspecting owner returns to unload a few more sheep and resume once he’s safely out of earshot again. The ad ends with a shot of the truck parked in front of a barn and a voiceover that introduces the Ridgeline, with its unique audio system, as “a new truck to love.” When the camera pans over, it’s revealed that the narrator is the dog seen earlier in the spot, seated on a bale of hay, and talking to the camera. LG USA is running “LG Man From the Future”, a Super Bowl commercial featuring father and son Liam Neeson and Micheal Neeson, directed by Jake Scott with support from his father Ridley Scott. The commercial’s interaction between the two actors at a bar introduces the OLED G6 television as a symbol of future technology. Liam opens the conversation with the provocative statement, “There is a revolution coming”. He holds a deck of black-backed playing cards, saying the future is staring back at us, like a perfect picture on glass. Out comes the eight of clubs, regarded as a symbol of the power of mental focus. The commercial includes elements reminiscent of the Tron films, with a virtual motorcyclist riding through a maze. Heinz has launched “Wiener Stampede”, a commercial featuring dachshunds released in anticipation of the 2016 Super Bowl game. The sausage dogs, dressed in bread rolls, romp together through the fields seeking out a collection of Heinz ketchups. As the dogs jump into the sauce bottle’s arms the voice over says: “It’s hard to resist good taste”. The commercial ends with the tagline “Meet The Ketchups”.
Coldplay has released the music video for “Hymn For The Weekend”, the second single to be taken from Coldplay’s new album, A Head Full Of Dreams. and featuring cameos from Beyoncé and Bollywood actress Sonam Kappor. Shot in Mumbai and Delhi, the music video shows Chris Martin and band members interacting with local participants in the colourful Holi festival, alongside cameo appearance by American singer Beyoncé and Bollywood actress Sonam Kappor. Coldplay and Beyonce will be performing together during the half time break in the 2015 Super Bowl game on Sunday February 7.
