Next Media in Asia, the animation network based in Taiwan, has launched a tongue-in-cheek animated video speculating on the revelations likely to be seen Lance Armstrong’s interview with Oprah Winfrey. The video explores the fantastic justifications associated with a “partial apology”, all with a satirical bent. Here’s the video, with English subtitles.
Philips in Taiwan has launched low-tech augmented reality mugs (brought with the salon beverage) allowing men to experience facial hair without inhibitions in a fun and personal way. Over 73% of Taiwanese men think that grooming is just about cleanness, preferring a clean-shaven look over any type of beard and stubble. The hair salon is where men are most receptive to suggestions about their looks and open to try something new. Philips targeted men at popular hair salons, catching them by surprise. By embedding the experience into the established hair cutting ritual we created a unique opportunity for the brand.
4A Yahoo! Creative Awards were held in Taiwan over two days in May 2010, the 20th and 21st. Four judges, Ng Tian from Lowe Singapore, Nick Lim from McCann Erickson Hong Kong, Sonal Dabral from Bates 141 India, and Polly Chu from JWT Beijing. Out of Sight, a five minute short film, features a little girl whose perception of the world is put to the test when her guide dog runs off. The animated cartoon was a graduation production made by three students at the National Taiwan University of Arts. The main character in the story confronts a robbery and strays from the road she is familiar with. After passing a fence, she enters an unknown world, unveiling a magical adventure using her imagination and senses other than vision. With soft and cute colors as the main key, simple designs are used to depict the little girl’s imaginary world.
Wego Motel ((薇閣旅館) in Taipei, Taiwan, has a reputation as a popular love motel, a place where couples can spend time in luxury and privacy. The company worked with Ogilvy & Mather Advertising Taiwan, Taipei, commissioned a series of short adult films (mini movies) to foster that reputation. “Soap”, “Shower Cap” and “Room Service” provide a kinky, definitely NSFW take on what happens behind the doors.
