Cerebral Palsy Lanka Foundation in Sri Lanka is aware of as many as 40,000 children living with Cerebral Palsy in Sri Lanka today. Many families do not know to take care of children with the disease and, because of a stigma associated with disabilities, go so far as to hide their child away. In 2012 the CPLF ran “Whistle Story”, a television advertising campaign featuring a child afflicted with Cerebral Palsy who can only communicate with the aid of a whistle. The campaign was designed to make people aware that there is a way to help sufferers live a better and more fulfilling life. The spot won two Bronze awards at Adfest (Film & New Director) and has been listed in the Gunn Report Cannes Lions Sweepstake for 2013.
