Red Cross Spain (Cruz Roja Española) presents their ongoing presence in communities in a subtle print advertising campaign by Publicis Dialog. The tag line, “Perhaps you can’t see us, but we are there”, reminds us that the work of aid agencies continues even in the absence of emergencies. Red Cross agencies in the frontline this week are Palang Merah in Indonesia and Philippines National Red Cross. Samoa is being supported by Red Cross in New Zealand.

Madrid’s bid to host the 2016 Olympics is symbolized by a logo designed by Joaquín Mallo, chosen by popular vote in an online competition in 2007. Mallo, an Argentinian graphic designer living in Spain, lent his pseudonym, “Corle”, to the name of the colorful hand. He explained that his design humanized the Olympic rings as a continuous line turning into a hand, with a capital M representing Madrid. The hand’s colours represent unity among the different cultures, people, and nationalities that coexist in Madrid.
