Rafael & Sons Story of Feelings

Rafael & Sons Diamond and Jewellery, based in Israel, launched the brand on the Romanian market with “True Feelings”, a press campaign featuring television star Andreea Raicu. Five print ads, each with the tag line, “Born 100 millions years ago, mine forever”, were released through the second half of 2011.

Romania Typomania

Lowe Romania has taken up the BizForum challenge of designing brand imagery to galvanize Romanian identity. The agency centred their set of images around the concept of typomania, celebrating Romania’s Delta flora and fauna (Rawmania), naturally beautiful mountains, sea and plains (Roughmania), friendly people (rHumania), beautiful women (rWomania), sportsmen and sportswomen (R10mania), music (RomaInna), premium wines (RomWinea), Transapline roads (roadmania). The series finishes with I Love RomaNYa, worthy of t-shirts everywhere.

Beneva Bouquets and Baseball Bats

Beneva Foundation in Romania raised awareness of the impact of violence against women recently, using bouquets of flowers and baseball bats. Research shows that one in four Romanian women is abused at some point in her life. Beneva Foundation worked with Bratislava advertising agency Jandl to graphically portray the message, “1 in 4 women gets beaten instead of getting flowers.” Bouquets with baseball bats were placed among flowers for sale in florist shops in Bucharest, with a card explaining the issue to raise the awareness. The card led to the Beneva Foundation website, beneva.ro, where visitors could find more information and become involved in making a safer place for women. The campaign was backed up with print and digital elements.

Romanians Are Smart

Kandia Dulce, producer of Romania’s ROM chocolate bar, is launching an online campaign to improve the online reputation of Romanians. Google live search indicates that searches relating to Romanians are too often derogatory. Type in “Romanians are” in a Google search and you’re likely to be given the suggestions of “Romanians are gypsies”, “Romanians are ugly”, and “Romanians are rude”. The chocolate manufacturer is encouraging people to change this by using Google to change the live search results to “Romanians are smart”.
