Reporters Without Borders Pixelated Truth

The Reporters Without Borders “Pixelated Truth” advertising campaign was used to spark a worldwide discussion on the impact of news censorship. The biggest problem of censorship is not the sole withdrawal of information but the fact that it distorts the truth and hence creates a new story. Barack Obama and Hilary Clinton, David Cameron and Vladimir Putin are each presented with enough distortion of their hands to suggest unseemly gestures. “Censorship tells the wrong story”. The Pixelated Truth campaign recently won a Golden Drum Grand Prix for Press (Social & charity).

Shawarma Republic is a Lebanese fast food outlet, with the catchy tagline ‘United, we sandwich.’ The concept behind Shawarma Republic is a simple approach solution to today’s busy and hectic lifestyle where a good fast bite is what a large number of consumers are looking for. The brand is hitting the streets with a poster campaign inspired by the Barack Obama campaign illustrated by Shepard Fairey. Three posters, “Involve”, “Improve” and “Change” feature a sheep, cow and chicken.

Bridgestone Tire Safety Wall

Bridgestone Middle East recently worked with Impact BBDO to create tyre safety barriers for roads in Lebanon. Traffic accidents claim over 700 lives in Lebanon every year, and over 10,000 related injuries – one of the worst records in the Middle East. Bridgestone wanted to raise awareness for road safety and its tyres. But how do you get the attention of people who don’t even pay attention to the road regulations? Impact BBDO came up with an idea that revolved around tyres: a tyre safety barrier. It would not only make people more aware about driving safely, but also about Bridgestone. Conforming to the tyre wall designs made by the Motor Racing Authorities, Impact BBDO placed hundreds of used tyres at one of the most accident-prone areas in the country.

Gift an Organ

American University Of Beirut Medical Center, in Lebanon, commissioned DDB Dubai to create a corporate identity for its Committee of Organ Donation, using the tag line, “Gift an Organ”. Organ donation is something that people are very sensitive about. Though pledging an organ of a deceased relative or family member is a charitable gesture, not many people are comfortable with the idea. So whatever DDB designed had to strike an emotional chord and subtly prompt people to open up to the idea. More importantly, since it was to be project’s only tool of communication, the design had to instantly convey the message of organ donation.

Mothers Day Road Safety Message

Kunhadi (a Lebanese Youth Awareness NGO promoting Road Safety) hasl a road safety advertising campaign in association with Lebanon’s Mother’s Day, (March 21, 2011). The campaign is designed to wake up the Lebanese Youth to what they may be leaving behind if they don’t respect traffic laws. The Mother’s Day television and outdoor advertising campaign provides a twist to the custom of giving flowers on Mother’s Day.
