Dublin City Council has challenged gum-related litter habits with an ambient advertising campaign reminding people that gum is better stuck in the bin. Hundreds of shoes were stuck to the ground with gum in a popular shopping centre in Dublin. The stunt attracted the attention of amateur photographers and was covered by local media, blogs and social networking sites.

Pat the Baker, Ireland’s favourite bread, is using toast and well known literary figures in the launch of their new loaf especially made for toasting. The company, working with Bloom, Dublin, is targeting Dublin commuters with portraits of famous Irish people using toast, including writers, Samuel Beckett, William Butler Yeats and Oscar Wilde.

This year, Trócaire’s Lenten campaign is about people who have been forced from home by war. 26 million people have had to abandon their homes because of conflict to seek safety elsewhere within their country.

German 3D pavement artist Edgar Müller, created a three dimensional painting of an ice age crevasse at the Festival of World Cultures in Dún Laoghaire (Dunleary) in Ireland. Pedestrians standing in the right spot were treated to the illusion of being on the edge of hazardous ice-filled hole in the East Pier.

Irish language television channel TG4 is using a print advertising campaign to promote “Feirm Factor”, a Thursday night TV show where twelve farmers compete against each other to see which one is Ireland’s best. The show, directed by David Lawless, has men and women competing on a range of XFactor tasks for farmers: tractor backing, stacking bales, shoveling grain, guessing the weight of a bull, buying the best animal at the best price at a market, milking a cow by hand, cooking and serving a meal, and making a silage pit. “Barn” and “Trailer”, two print advertisements, use the line, “The Search for Ireland’s Farming Star Begins”, along with the TG4 phrase, “The more you watch, the more you see.”
