Scrabble Tales

Srabble the word game was promoted in Guatemala with a set of three active outdoor poster installations transforming stories into new “Scrabble Tales”. Letters used in the Spanish language versions of Three Little Pigs (Los Tres Cochinatos), Little Red Riding Hood (La Caperucita Roja) and The Ugly Duckling (El Patito Feo) were used to form three totally new tales: Tres Chinitos Locos (Three Crazy Chinamen), Pau, El Carrito Caja (Pau, the Basket Case) and Pelotito Ofe (Little Ball Ofe). “Tres Chinitos Locos” tells the story of three wise Chinese friends that get the call from the Emperor to find the cure for mortality. After many attempts the wise Chinese come back with the solution: To avoid mortality live your life fiercely.

Hooters Camouflage Advertising

Hooters in Guatemala used camouflage advertising in newspapers to attract men to their restaurant happy hours without their girlfriends catching on. 56 quetzals for Wingday Platter provides 10 regular or boneless chicken wings, curly fries and ranch or blue cheese dressing. 145 quetzals provides a Training Combo with 6 training burgers, curly fries and a pitcher of beer. 26 quetzals gets draft beer 2×1. All disguised in what appear to be newspaper advertisements for BX Racing Wheels, BX Tools, and Smithson Fishing tackle.

Alzheimers Lost Poster in Guatemala

Association Grupo Ermita Association Alzheimer de Guatemala has run a print advertising campaign calling for financial support for their work with sufferers of Alzheimers Disease. A woman places a “Perdida” (Lost) poster on a telegraph pole. The Spanish words, “Si pudieran ayudarse, no te lo pediríamos a ti”, is translated in English as “If they could help themselves, we wouldn’t ask you.”

Gatorade is encouraging everyday citizens of Guatemala to consider their potential with a campaign, using the Spanish tagline, “¿está en ti?, translated in English as “Is it in you?” The series links the energy drink with the Olympic sports of weight lifting, running and cycling.

Tropical Rainforest Foundation Man and Woman

The Tropical Rainforest Foundation and Fundacion del Bosque Tropical in Guatemala are two organizations joined together for the conservation of natural resources in Central America. Guatemalan graphic designer Christian Barahona put together these two print advertisements for an awareness-raising advertising campaign, highlighting the impact of fire and tree-felling on the forest and its peoples.
