BMW Driving Force behind Rugby
BMW, as official vehicle sponsor of the Springboks and the Qantas Wallabies, has an advertising campaign focusing on both teams as they head to Twickenham, the English ground that will host the finals of the Rugby World Cup. The 60 second commercials blend footage provided by BMW UK (sponsor of England Rugby) and audio of Australians singing “Waltzing Matilda” and South Africans singing “Shosholoza”. “The Road to Twickenham should not be driven alone”. The Australian part of the campaign also features outdoor and digital elements featuring key players from The Wallabies alongside some of BMW’s most powerful ultimate driving machines, the X5M & X6M.
The BMW Driving Force campaign was developed at Ogilvy Melbourne by creative group head Cam Mitchell, creative director/copywriter Jack Davies, senior copywriter Damien Whelan, copywriter Alex Brisbane, art directors Brad O’Meara and Nick Ogilvy, agency producer Cleo Wyrill, group account director Tim Clark, account director Toby Gill and account executive Andy Athaide.
