Helium the Oscar Winner
“Helium”, a short film by Danish film director and illustrator Anders Walter, has been awarded the Oscar for Best Live Action Short Film at the 2014 Academy Awards. A young boy Alfred is dying, but through the stories about HELIUM – a magical fantasy world, told by the hospital’s eccentric janitor Enzo, Alfred regain the joy and happiness of his life, and finds a safe haven away from daily life.
Helium was produced by writer/director and matte painter Anders Walter via M&M Productions with writer Christian Gamst Miller-Harris, producers Kim Magnusson and Tivi Magnusson, line producer Gabriela Uweis, cinematographer Rasmus Heise, executive producers Henrik Garnov, Lasse Marcussen and Andreas Rostock, editor Lars Wissing, composer Rasmus Walter, casting agent Gro Therp, art director Louise Rathje, sound mixer Mikkel Furbo, supervising sound editor Henrik Gugge Garnov, lighting technicians Neffi Kristensen and Rika Yasui Hammen.
Post production was done at Cameo Film by producer Andreas Rostock and VFX artist Bjørn Munch. 3D work was done at Ghost by producer Rikke Gjerløv Hansen, colourist Lasse Marcussen, 3D supervisor/lead render Esben Syberg, and 3D modeler/texture artist Oldrich Holy.
