Canadian fashion chain Ivanhoé Cambridge is creating awareness for their upcoming Black Friday sales this weekend with “Throwaway Thursday”, a day to make room for all the incredible deals their customers are going to get on Black Friday. Some properties have “Throwaway” bags that their customers can fill with their unwanted clothes on Thursday. On Black Friday (Nov. 29th), participants can bring their donations to the mall and drop them off at Guest Services. The first 200 shoppers to donate at each mall will get a free gift card. The Throwaway Thursday campaign has been implemented in 24 of Ivanhoé Cambridge’s shopping centres across Canada. The campaign includes in-mall signage, local TSA’s, radio and display ads as well as specially designed Throwaway Thursday shopping bags and stickers.
“Throwaway Thursday is a way to put our own spin on a day that every other retailer is talking about at this time,” says Joanne Ross, Director, Regional Marketing at Ivanhoé Cambridge, “It speaks to the incredible deals you’ll be able to get at our shopping centres, but also reminds people that this season is also about giving.”
