Smart’s Off Road campaign, run in Germany, has won Gold for TV Commercials at the Art Directors Club Europe 2013 Awards. The Smart ForTwo, the ultimate city car, is shown attempting to live the life of an off road SUV and failing. However the Smart Car beats the SUV in the parking in small spaces stakes. “As good in the field as an SUV in the city”. The campaign went on to include “Public Transport”, in which bus passengers realise just how beneficial the Smart Car is to emotional health.
The Smart Off Road campaign was developed at BBDO Proximity Germany, Berlin, by creative directors David Mously and Ton Holländer.
Filming was shot by director Daniel Warwick via Bigfish with director of photography Michael Schreitel, producers Henry Rehorek and Stephan Pauly, editor Marty Schenk. Grading was by Pana at Uncle Berlin.
