Schweppes Tumble, the television commercial promoting “Schweppervesence” on the mountains, hills and streams of New Zealand, was awarded a Gold Film Craft Lion (Best Production Value) and Silver Film Lion (Visual Effects) at Cannes International Festival of Creativity. Filmed in several New Zealand locations, the Tumble ad shows stunt performers tumbling down snowy and grassy slopes before plunging into a deep fresh water pool, symbolising the drinker’s experience of the soft drink brand. Filming the ad involved a mixture of freestyle action and stunts aided by towers and wires.
The Tumble ad was developed at George Patterson Y&R Melbourne by chief creative officer Ben Coulson, copywriter Evan Roberts, art director Chris Northam, agency producer Romanca Jasinski, account supervisor Mat Cummings, account manager Matilda Hobba, planners Tom Ward and Tom Ding, working with Schweppes group marketing manager Ellie Vince, senior brand manager Ben Goss Snr and assistant brand manager Emma Brown.
Filming was shot by director Steve Rogers via Revolver/Will O’Rourke, Sydney, with producers Michael Ritchie and Pip Smart, director of photography Adam Arkapaw. Editor was Jack Hutchings at The Butchery. Post production was by Fin Design by senior Flame artist Justin Bromley and Flame artist Julian Ford. Colorist was Ben Eagleton at Fuel VFX.
Sound was mixed at Electric Dreams by Mark Mitchell and designed at Flagstaff Studios by Paul Le Couteur. Music is “HMS Pinafore”, by Gilbert & Sullivan, performed by D’oyley Carte Opera Company, licensed through Level Two Music by Karl Richter.
