Placebo Too Many Friends – Unfortunate Details
English alternative rock band Placebo has launched “Unfortunate Details”, an experimental music video for their track “Too Many Friends”, directed by Saman Kesh and narrated by author Brett Easton Ellis. Ellis provides a narrative deconstruction of a brief event set at a house party sometime in the near future. As the event replays, subtle nuances and mysteries are revealed, prompting different interpretations of the scene. In the end the viewer is invited to interact with the video and provide their own account of what really happened.
The Too Many Friends music video was written, directed and edited by Saman Kesh, with narrator Bret Easton Ellis, co-writer Nate Eggert, producer Sarah Park, cinematographer Isaac Bauman, art director Jason Kisvarday, editor Mandy Brown, assistant director Howard Butler, VFX artist Chad Goei at Glow Gun, colorist Derek Hansen at MPC, graphic artists Sean Chang and Mindy Benner, makeup artist Karina Moore, wardrobe artist Michelle Thompson, executive producer Ross Levine, and Universal Music Group commissioner John Moule and director’s rep Joceline Gabriel.
“Too Many Friends” is the first track to be taken from Placebo’s brand new album, “Loud Like Love”, the band’s seventh studio album set for release on September 16.
