Google UK has connected with the Christmas season in an advertising campaign featuring the 1974 Slade hit “Everyday”. Three commercials, “Far From Home”, “Well Prepared” and “Slight Hitch”, show Google’s technology in use for people preparing to celebrate Christmas together. A father working on a tanker connects with his family on Christmas Day by video-calling them on his Nexus 7. A family Christmas dinner goes awry when the microwave blows up. Thanks to an effective Google search, the cooks work out how to use the barbecue for the job. A hitchhiker in Malaysia uses Google’s translate function to get himself a ride to the airport. The tagline for each ad, “Made for What Matters”.
The Everyday campaign was developed at Joint by creative Damon Collins and agency producer Miles Nathan.
