Dove’s “Hide and seek” commercial, winner of a Gold Film Lion at Cannes International Festival of Creativity, focuses on the insight that most women lack confidence in front of cameras and try to hide away from them. It then contrasts this with little girls who do the opposite, loving to show off in front of the camera and actively seeking it out. By doing this, the film asks women to think about the point in their lives when they lost their beauty confidence, whilst reminding them that they’ve had it before, so they can have it again.
The Camera Shy commercials was developed at Ogilvy Group UK, London by chief creative officer and executive creative director Gerry Human, creative director Christine Jones, copywriter Tom Smith, art director Darren Urquhart, agency producer Simon Stewart, account supervisor Stephane Orhan, working with Dove marketing team Steve Miles and Fernando Machado and global brand manager Jocelyn Hsieh.
