Young Empires White Doves
Young Empires, a world beat haute rock band based in Toronto, have released “White Doves”, a music video designed to seamlessly integrate Facebook data into the narrative experience, making the viewer play a part in the film. The Facebook connect music video, online at whitedoves.me, celebrates relationships and memories by accessing the user’s best friend on Facebook. The app pulls in mutually tagged photos of the user and his/her chosen friend, incorporating the user’s relationship into the music video.
“In addition to pulling photos in via the Facebook API, the photos are motion tracked within Flash and dynamically colour corrected to match the lighting and aesthetic of the music video,” explains Adrian Belina, Creative Director, Jam3. “In the final piece, images appear behind fire, fall from the sky and take on burnt edges and dust creating a unique story personalized for each fan.”
Filming was shot by OPC director Miles Jay via Vision Film Co and Family Style with executive producers Geoff McLean, Harland Weiss, Donovan Boden, executive/line producer Liz Dussault, digital director Derek Blais, director of photography Max Chin, art directors Zazu Myers and Drew Lint.
This is the second online experience launched by Miles Jay this month, the first being Carly’s Cafe, which takes the user inside the world of a girl with Autism.
Offline editor was Chris Murphy at Relish Editing.
Online and visual effects were produced at 567VFX by VFX supervisor and lead compositor Patrick Coffey, compositors Justin Lee, Mike Moray, Rodney Dow, CG fire simulation artist Allan McKay, match move team Lev Bravo and Marcus Alqueres, executive producer Lucy O’Neill, production coordinator Gerard Goco.
