Volkswagen turn to Bark Side
Volkswagen is getting ready for the 2012 Super Bowl television advertising season with Bark Side, a commercial with dogs barking the Imperial March theme from Star Wars. Twelve dogs, selected from a pool of 40 hopeful mutts, were filmed in a group shots and individual shots. Volkswagen is inviting viewers to create an Intergalactic Invite to the Big Game party on February 5 at vw.com/star-wars-invite.
The Dark Side campaign was developed at Deutsch Los Angeles by chief creative officer Mark Hunter, group creative officer Michael Kadin, group creative directors Matt Ian and Jerome Austria, art director Kate O’Connor, copywriter Donna Ko, director of integrated production Vic Palumbo, director of broadcast production Victoria Gunier, associate integrated producer Emma Johnson, working with Volkswagen chief product and marketing officer Tim Mahoney, general brand marketing manager Brian Thomas, brand marketing and diversity communications officer Eric Wilson.
Editor was Nicholas Wayman-Harris at Union Editorial with assistant editors Josh Hayes and Tyler Nelson, executive producer Michael Raimondi, senior producer Joe Ross.
Post production was done at Resolution LA by executive producer Michael Raimondi, VFX supervisor Todd Iorio, senior producer Joe Ross, Flame artists Ben Looram, Evan Guidera and Chris Moore. Telecine was produced at Company 3, Los Angeles, by colorist Dave Hussey. Special effects were produced at Method Studios by creative director/senior Flame artist Claus Hansen, executive producer Robert Owens, producer Stephanie Allis.
Music was designed at Endless Noise by composer/arranger/creative director Jeff Elmassian, composer/arranger Andy Rehfeldt, music/sound engineer Grant Cornish and producer Mary Catherine Finney. Audio post production was done at Lime Studios by mixer Mark Meyhaus, assistant mixer Matt Miller, producer Jessica Locke.
