“The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore”, a short film by William Joyce and Brandon Oldenburg, has been nominated for Best Short Film (animated) at the 2012 Academy Films. The 15 minute film is designed as a poignant, humorous allegory inspired by Hurricane Katrina, Buster Keaton and The Wizard of Oz. The Fantastic Flying Books of Morris Lessmore is a story of people who devote their lives to books and books who return the favor. The film is available as an iPad app and is featured online at morrislessmore.com.
