Raju, a short film set in India, has been nominated for Best Film (Live Action) at the 2012 Academy Awards. The film, by German director Max Zahle and producer Stefan Gieren, follows the story of a young couple who travel to Kolkata to adopt a child from the slums. After braving the bureaucracy and emotional upheaval of international adoption, they are horrified to learn that Raju has disappeared somewhere in Kolkata. See more at raju-film.com.

Raju was shot by director/writer/editor Max Zähle, producer Stefan Gieren, director of photography Sin Huh, writer Florian Kuhn, production designer Hans Zillmann, composer Florian Tessloff, production coordinator Patrick Ghosh, executive producer Arindam Sil, unit manager Saubhik Das, assistant director Jörn-Alexander Lindemann, 2nd assistant director Sabyasachi Bannerjee, assistant editor Aron Svabo, costume designers Suchismita Dasgupta and Miriam Aksoy. Casting was by Taranjit Kaur.
Post production at Hamburg Media School was by Petra Barkhausen, with assistant line producer Verena Gräfe-Höft and Anja Schmuck, and technical administrator Kalle Blank.
Post production was done at Optix Digital Pictures, Hamburg, by colorist Ronney Afortu, VFX coordinator Henning Westerwelle, compositing artist Marcel Lemme, 3D Artist Julian Sarnos, title designer Philip Braun at Giraffentoast.
Sound was produced by sound designers Niladri Mohanta and Simone Weber, assistants Prithwish Kumar Basu and Sabya Sachi Pal, audio coordinator Santajit Chatterjee, boom operators Rakesh Banerjee and Anadi Biswas. Re-recording was mixed by Stephan Konken.
