Kraft celebration of Oreo‘s centenary this year has taken a controversial turn with the publication of a rainbow themed advertisement on Facebook and Twitter. The Oreo Facebook page has been celebrating birthdays, associating dates with causes and fans. The Oreo cookie is presented with six rainbow colours, red, orange, yellow, green, blue and violet, associated with the words, “June 25″, “Pride” and “Proudly support love!”. Responses have been highly divided, ranging from excitement through to disgust and rejection of the Oreo brand. A petition on Change.com is calling Oreo to make rainbow cookie image into the real thing. June 25 is the date for the flag raising ceremony in Toronto’s Pride Week.
The Pride Cookie ad was developed at DraftFCB New York by creative directors Jill Applebaum and Megan Sheehan, copywriter Noel Potts, art directors Jared Isle, Mike Lubrano and Jackie Anzaldi.
