Volkswagen UK is marking the return of the Golf Cabriolet after nine years away from market with an advertising campaign centred in nostalgia. “Roof”, the television commercial at the centre of the campaign, takes viewers back to the childhood days of dogems, pedal cars and go-karts. “Remember how the cars you had most fun in never had a roof?”

The Roof ad was developed at DDB UK by executive creative director Jeremy Craigen, copywriter Mike Crowe, art director Rob Messeter, agency producers Maggie Blundell and Rachel Amess, business directors Jonathan Hill and Paul Billingsley, account managers Jon Barnes and Harriet Bates, account planner Tom Lloyd, working with Volkswagen UK marketing director Rod McLeod, national communications manager Nigel Brotherton and communications manager Josie Taylor.
Post Production was done at the Moving Picture Company (MPC), by producer Tom Phillips, VFX supervisor Ludo Fealy, VFX team Chrys Aldred, Ludo Fealy and Bruno Fukomothi, and colorist Jean-Clement Soret.
Media was handled at Mediacom by media planner Adrian Brook.
