Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia is promoting the arrival of the new Pajero Sport VGT, with “Shopping”, a television commercial featuring a man out on a challenging errand. Driving the VGT, a higher-powered version of the Pajero Sport seven-seat SUV, he puts to the test the 2.5-litre DI-D common rail diesel engine, along with Variable Geometry Turbo (VGT), a 2-DIN Kenwood touch screen head unit with GPS, cruise control and paddleshift control.

The Shopping ad was developed at Mutiara – McCanns, Kuala Lumpur, by executive creative director Huang Ean, HWA, creatives Benjamin Ng and Lee Kwee Keak, brand management team Celina Loo and Sharon Hew, agency producer Iskandar Siva.
Filming was shot by director Brad Hogarth via Luminous, Kuala Lumpur, by executive producer Karen de Silva, producer Maria Tan, director of photography Haruld Goh, production designer Nick Wong, production manager Vinod Jayaram, PA Sherlyndo Sher and Chong Pui See and Deanne Sahibjahn, assistant director Yap Wai Yin, key grip Sawaranpal Singh (Sanny) and gaffer Megat.
Hogarth explains the thinking behind the shoot. “The idea was to demonstrate driving excitement while creating drama and surprise as we follow the husband on his “shopping trip”. I wanted the spot to feel like an action movie trailer, taking the viewer along for the ride. It was also important to find an unexpected way of revealing that the guy was actually getting groceries for his family. For me the story needed some planned miss direction in the beginning so the viewer didn’t work out the shopping idea too early in the film. We shot the commercial over two days around KL, on 16mm film.”
