Marks and Spencer Spring Issue 2011

Marks & Spencer has launched its new Spring marketing campaign starring M&S models Dannii Minogue, Jamie Redknapp, V V Brown, Twiggy, Lisa Snowdon and Ana Beatriz Barros. The three-tiered campaign features a showpiece 50 second TV ad, along with product feature TV ads, press, outdoor and online execution.

Set to Michael Bublé’s “It had better be tonight” and inspired by the key seasonal trends for this Spring, the main TV ad shows the stars modelling for a magazine shoot in Miami. The nautical Star In Stripes look sees the girls modelling chic striped dresses and coats at a marina location with big shades, stylish hats and fabulous footwear the order of the day.
Have A Doris Day sees the M&S girls trying to ‘out-Doris’ each other in classic 50s inspired pieces. Play Your Wild Card features Dannii and V V working a fierce Glamazon look, as the girls race across a river on an air boat. The ad cuts to a glamorous pool party at dusk for the Oh So Sexy 70s look. Ana tries on stunning lingerie before making an appearance to join the other girls who are dancing the night away. The ad finishes with the line, ‘Only at Your M&S’. Innovation ads highlight technology built into M&S clothing not available from any other retailer. “Utterly Repellent Menswear” features Jamie Redknapp and his friends, wearing Stormwear suits, getting caught by garden sprinklers. “Killer heels that don’t kill” features Lisa dancing the night away in Autograph Insolia heels. Insolia is an innovative technology designed to alleviate pain associated with wearing high heeled shoes. It works through a contoured insole that shifts weight from the forefront of the heel making high heels feels at comfortable as flats. The Spring Issue campaign was developed at RKCR/Y&R, London, by creative partners Pip Bishop and Chris Hodgkiss, creative director Mark Roalfe, business director Lucy Valpy, account director Kate Uniowski, account manager Katey-Ellen Price, agency producer Sally Pritchett, account planner Lori Meakin, working with Marks & Spencer executive director marketing Steve Sharp, head of marketing: womenswear and children Denise Posner, marketing manager Jill Bainbridge.

Filming was shot by director Vaughan Arnell via Crossroad Films and Stink with typographer Jason Hyde. Post production was done at The Moving Picture Company by producer Paul Branch. Audio post production was done at Wave Studios, London.

    Wow. We run a club night called CYOA! I know someone who works at M&S and sent him flyers for our Miami night back in January. Looks like someone quite liked it.

    Well your assurances do nothing to change the fact that from now on all your meat and dairy products will be contaminated with GMO’s and therefore the quality of the food you sell will be affected.

    GM foods use far more chemicals than ordinary foods, they are untested (only the companies making and selling these products run any tests and they can not be trusted as they have a bias to selling their products) and your commitment to selling non-GM has fallen at the first hurdle

    In fact you have shown no commitment to selling non GM foods and because of this I will not be shopping at your stores again, for anything
