IKEA‘s “Homemade Is Best” coffee table book has won Grand Prix for Design at the Cresta Awards. The 140 page book, designed by Forsman & Bodenfors, contains 30 classic Swedish baking recipes, covering everything from small biscuits to large cakes. Inspired by high fashion and Japanese minimalism, the book tones down the actual cake and puts the ingredients in focus. The recipes are presented as graphic still-life portraits on a warm and colorful stage. The campaign included an iphone app linking exercise and baking.

You have to give it up for Ikea’s graphic design abilities. Something about just screams minimalist with a loud voice.
