This year, Earth Hour is all about encouraging people to go beyond the hour, by doing things that help the planet every day. Working with WWF Singapore, Leo Burnett Singapore has developed the 60+ iPhone app. In the same vein of gowala and foursquare, the app inspires action by providing a list of simple acts that users can perform to help the planet. After taking part, users can check-in their acts right away to earn achievements, which will then be shared among their friends on their social networks. The app also tracks individual and global contributions, leading to an Earth Hour that goes beyond geographical borders as well. The design of the app is an act in itself, as the entire interface was created out of discarded cardboard boxes and paper. Everything was drawn by hand, and even the badges were hand-sewn.
The Earth Hour 60+ iPhone app was developed at Leo Burnett Group Singapore by group executive creative director Chris Chiu, digital creative director Martin Loo, art director Shawnn Lai, copywriters Steve Kyriakou and Colin Koh, digital art director Joshua Lim, designer Goh Caili, project manager Michelle Lee, account manager Stella Pok and developer Randy Chan.
