Dead Island, to be released in September 2011, is an open world horror action adventure video game developed by Techland and distributed by Deep Silver for Microsoft Windows, Playstation 3 Xbox 360, and Onlive platforms. The first trailer, launched in February 2011, featuring a family torn apart by an encounter with zombies, has won a Gold Film Lion at Cannes International Festival of Creativity. Set in the Royal Palms Resort, on the fictional island of Banoi, off the coast of Papua New Guinea, the game centres on the challenge of survival on a zombie-infested island, with an emphasis on melee combat. Be warned. The video has been rated as unsuitable for ages under 18, and could be traumatic for those sensitive about the involvement of children in violent settings.
