Audi is promoting the new Audi A6 with aluminium hybrid body in “Manipulation”, a television commercial largely prepared in CGI. The film, designed as a magical display of Audi’s mastery of lightweight metal engineering, began with live action filming of malleable materials giving good impressions of ‘pushing’ and ‘pulling’ as well as ‘depth’ and ‘pressure’. The CG team at Glassworks had the challenge of mirroring these movements and creating the illusion of milling and crafting this great machine out of aluminum as if it were a giant play-doh model.

Manipulation is part of a campaign developed at BBH, London, by creatives Nick Kidney and Kevin Stark, art director Dan Bailey, copywriter Bradley Woolf, and agency producer Ruben Mercadel.
Post production was done at Glassworks by 3D lead Nick Smalley, 3D artists Stephen New, Roman Kaelin, Jon Bragado, Flame lead Duncan Malcolm, Flame assist Iain Murray, TK colourist Ben Rogers, and producer Misha Stanford-Harris.
