Apes Will Rise

20th Century Fox is promoting “Rise of the Planet of the Apes”, a movie released on August 5, with “Apes Will Rise”, an integrated advertising campaign online at apeswillrise.com, @apeswillrise, Youtube and Facebook. The usual trailers and television commercials are being supplemented with a series of online films of chimpanzees and gorillas showing signs of advanced intelligence. Chimpanzees use human weapons, watch Carmageddon in Los Angeles, and try their hand at first person shooter games.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes

The Apes Will Rise smartphone app gives users a chance to test their wits against intelligent simians, mimicing a memory test Japanese researchers performed on 5-year-old chimps who had been taught the order of Arabic numerals. Players are required to tap numbers strewn across a screen in their numeric order, after they’ve been covered off by white boxes. The game features three difficulty levels-Easy, Hard and Ape-the latter which reflects the real speed of the original game played by the chimpanzees.
