Amnesty International Switzerland‘s Classified campaign, developed at Walker, Zurich, has won a Gold Clio for Print at the 2011 Clio Awards. The full page newspaper ads reveal five kinds of human rights abuses that could easily be hidden behind classified advertisements. Swiss newspapers often donate spaces in between classified advertisements to non government organisations. Amnesty ran yellow advertisements behind the classifieds, with the message, “Helfen Sie uns, damit Menschenrechtsverletzungen nicht im Hintergrund verschwinden”, translated from German to English, “Help us to prevent human rights violations from disappearing into the background.”
