Wimpy burger restaurants in South Africa are promoting their collectible glasses, the ones you drink from, with “Family”, a television commercial directed by Anton Visser at Velocity Films. The commercial opens on a living room (somewhere in Benoni) where the Skoltimaier 7even, a family of six and their dog have assembled to play “Funky Town” on multiple glasses that they collected from the many Valuelicious Meals they purchased from Wimpy. Each family member is dressed in a shiny homemade 80’s styled outfit, with performance routines to fit.

The Wimpy Family ad was developed at Metropolitan Republic, Johannesburg, by executive creative director Paul Warner, creative director/art director Wesley Phelan, creative director/copywriter Spike Kunene, agency producer Sue Tyler and account executive Lynelle Seethal.
Filming was shot by director Anton Visser via Velocity Films, Johannesburg with producer Prenneven Govender and director of photography Rob Wilson.
Post production was done at Left Post Production, Johannesburg by editor James Hosking. Sound was designed at Fine Tune Studios by Warren Burley. Music adaptation of “Funky Town” by Sean Ou Tim.
