Walkers, the British snack food company, is running an integrated advertising campaign focused on the English town of Sandwich, Kent, promoting meal deals at lunch times organised by the Walkers range and sandwich outlets across the UK. The Walkers site has had a makeover to provide visitors a look around Sandwich with insights into the excitement of life there. To spice things up Walkers has introduced celebrities to the town’s life, illustrating the claim that any sandwich can be made more exciting with Walkers.
This first advert, also starring Match Of The Day presenter Gary Lineker, shows the shocked reactions of residents as JLS (Jack the Lad Swing) and Jenson Button stroll around the town. The boy band members shocked hundreds of youngsters when they arrived at the Sandwich Tech Sixth Form College to perform a surprise gig during their lunch break.

Jenson Button got the chance to drive his very own ‘Button Cabs’ taxi and stunned many locals as he whizzed around picking them up and dropping them off.

The Walkers campaign is designed to roll out over several months. Coming video clips will include actress Pamela Anderson and comedian Al Murray serving drinks and crisps to people at New Inn. Garry Lineker appears on the streets dressed up as a ham and salad sandwich. Keep in touch with the campaign through the Walkers Twitter stream and #sandwichevent theme.

what a fantastic thing to happen in a beautiful place like Sandwich. This town has now been put on the map forever. such a brilliant idea the children and people loved every minute, please come back again one day and let us know next time and we can all see these lovely people having good fun while working in Sandwich.
