The Vigneron Centenary Wine

Ben Corban, a copywriter working with The Alt Group in Auckland, New Zealand, had the privilege of involving his colleagues in an award winning design project focusing on the 100 years of Najib Corban, his grandfather. The Vigneron project was dedicated to the life and work of Najib Corban, one of New Zealand’s wine industry pioneers who lost his sight as a child yet went on to live a full life growing grapes for the wine industry. Oakfield Press published a 100-page book with photographs of Najib’s tools and poetry, released in conjunction with a limited edition magnum, dipped in blackboard paint and hand numbered in an edition of one hundred. The 100 magnums were designed to reference the blackboard Najib used to notate his poetry on. Each bottle was dipped in blackboard paint, sealed with wax then hand numbered with chalk in an limited edition of 100. The Vigneron project won a Gold Design Lion, for the book, and a Silver Design Lion, for the magnum, at Cannes International Advertising Festival.
