SANCA Pregnancy Warnings

The South African National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (SANCA) is a non-governmental organisation focused on the prevention and treatment of Alcohol and Drug Dependence. SANCA is warning about the dangers of drinking during pregnancy with a print advertising campaign featuring sleeping prostitute, drug user and criminal, with the SANCA logo superimposed over an ultrasound scan. “Drinking during pregnancy can take years to affect your baby. 50% of children born with foetal alcohol syndrome will grow up to engage in risky sexual behaviour. 35% of children born with foetal alcohol syndrome will grow up to abuse drugs and alcohol. 60% of children born with foetal alcohol syndrome will grow up to engage in criminal activity. Do the right thing for child’s sake. Don’t drink during pregnancy.”
