Kenya telecom operator Safaricom has released a major brand advertising campaign featuring a 600 member choir singing in Swahili in scenic locations, aiming to cement the company’s connection with the Kenyan market. The Safaricom Choir appears on Mt Kenya, Mt Longonot crater, Mt Elgon, alongside the Tana River, Ndere Island, Porror Ridge, the Aberdare Range, Lake Victoria, Kericho, and in the hills at Suguta Valley south of Lake Turkana. The integrated campaign opens with a 90 second television commercial, extending to radio, retail units, press, billboards, websites, cinema screens and digital media platforms. Subscribers will be able to assign the campaign jingle as their Skiza tune or ringtone, at no charge. The jingle or wallpapers related to the campaign can also be downloaded from the Safaricom web portal free of charge. Those in the know quickly think of the similarities with the Qantas I Still Call Australia home campaign.
