RONA, a Canadian distributor and retailer of hardware, renovation and gardening products, launched “Made in Canada”, an integrated advertising campaign during the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics. The 14-spot campaign, online at 2010vancouver.rona.ca, provided close-up portraits of two Canadian Olympic athletes, along with other people who would not be in the spotlight, RONA dealer-owners and employees, young apprentices at the RONA 2010 Vancouver Fabrication Workshop and the workers who did the job of building the Olympic venues.
As a national partner, RONA helped to develop a 5-year program to help prepare for the 2010 Winter Games, including direct support for Canadian athletes, assisting in building over a dozen Olympic venues, help over 60 young disadvantaged young people learn a trade through RONA Vancouver 2010 Fabrication Workshop, and send about 100 RONA employees to Vancouver as delegated volunteers.
