The New York Times has commissioned “High Fliers“, a photographic essay by Ryan McGinley featuring athletes from the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics. Freestyle skiier Emily Cook, figure skater Rachael Flatt, ski jumper Anders Johnson, freestyle skiier Hannah Kearney, figure skater Evan Lysacek, freestyle skiier Jeret Speedy Peterson, snowboarder Shaun White, snowboarder Hannah Teter, figure skaters Keauna McLaughlin and Rockne Brubaker, figure skater Johnny Weir, snowboarder Louie Vito, snowboarder Kelly Clark. Featured here are five of the fourteen photos. See the short film associated with the project, The Lightness of Being an Olympian.
