Mentos Rainbow, a roll of flavoured sweets packaged in predictable order, is being promoted in the UK with “Spider”, a popular television commercial featuring one unpredictable spider. A man steps in to sort things out when his girlfriend starts shrieking in horror. He picks up a small spider only to become the victim of a severe case of bullying. “It’s better to know what’s coming next.” Perfetti Van Melle has produced the Mentos Rainbow line, with each roll containing seven fruit flavours (grape, strawberry, orange, watermelon, pineapple, raspberry and apple) all made with real fruit juice, and in the same order.

The Spider ad was developed at BBH London by creative directors Dave Monk and Matt Waller, art director Nadine Akle, copywriter Alex Ball and producer Ben Davies.
