Marston’s Pedigree, the English beer, was one of the sponsors of the English cricket team in the 2009 Ashes tournament. The sponsorship was promoted in a series of print and outdoor advertisements, along with game programmes, in-ground media and beer coasters, using old pub tiling and engraved mirrors to humorously point out the superior “Pedigree” of the English over their Australian rivals. “History”, “Our Blood”, and “Serve It” have been awarded a place in the D&AD 2010 Annual for newspaper advertising. The Ashes campaign was developed at DLKW by copywriter David Adamson art director Richard Prentice planners Pat McCaren, Dan Shute and Stuart Lundy, with Des Gallagher, marketing manager at Marston’s.
