La Biennale di Venezia Making Worlds

The Venice Biennale (La Biennale di Venezia) is a visual arts event held every two years in Venice, Italy. The 53rd International Art Exhibition, “Fare Mondi”, curated by Daniel Birnbaum, featured works by artists from over ninety countries around the world. Stockholm Design Lab was commissioned to create a new, strong visual identity that would communicate the theme “Making Worlds”, reflecting the atmosphere of the Art Exhibition, keeping all activities together and creating an extraordinary level of interest. The “Making Worlds” design concept used in catalogs and advertisements, on posters, signs and facades, was a graphic language with a visible connection to the world, creating abstract forms using all the flags of the world in neverending combinations. The design won a Gold Design Lion at Cannes International Advertising Festival.
