Universal Studio opened the new King Kong 3D attraction in Los Angeles on July 4, an event supported by publicity stunts on Santa Monica Beach and Dodger Stadium. A set of huge footprints was left on Santa Monica beach, alongside a crushed lifeguard vehicle. A video sugested that King Kong had also wreaked havoc through the Dodger stadium.

The King Kong campaign was developed at David&Goliath, Los Angeles, by chief creative officer David Angelo, executive creative director Colin Jeffery, creative director Ben Purcell, associate creative director Steve Yee, art director Bryan Carroll, copywriter Aroon Mukhey, director of print services Meredith Ball, media consultant Aiellen Shaw and Ari Chasin.
