IMDB Celebrates 20 Years

IMDb.com is running a 20 anniversary campaign to mark twenty years of gathering information on movies, TV and celebrities. Started in October 1990, the site was initially a hobby project run by an international group of movie fans, before being purchased by Amazon.com. The site has been upgraded with a new stylesheet, more video content, and a series of 20 video interviews with A-list artists. The 20 day celebrity countdown, online at www.imdb.com/20, culminates on October 17, 2010, celebrating the films of the past 20 years.

IMDb’s editorial team has created a year-by-year retrospective featuring the following for each year that IMDb has been in operation: Box Office Returns, The Year in Movies, Trivia, Trailers, Top 20 Lists, Photo Galleries, Editorial Lists, Notable and Influential Films, Award-Winners, The Year in IMDb History, and In Memoriam.

Users will be invited to create their own Top 20 film lists via IMDb’s just-launched list-making tool. Fans can also share lists and the original celebrity video interview of the day on a variety of social networks.
