Honda Back to Work

Honda’s UK factory in Swindon was closed for four months in 2009 as a result of the global financial crisis, with 1,300 workers taking voluntary redundancy and the remaining 3,400 agreeing a 3% pay cut for 10 months. Honda issued a print advertising campaign to mark the reopening of the plant, a campaign that has gone on to win the Grand Prix at the 2009 Awards for National Newspaper Advertising held in January. Four of the five ads, “Bacon”, “Tea”, “Bolt” and “Iron” will appear in the D&AD 2010 Annual.

The Back to Work campaign was developed at Wieden+Kennedy London by executive creative directors Tony Davidson and Kim Papworth, creatives Fabian Bergland, Ida Gronblom and Karen Jane, and photographer David Sykes.
