Cadbury Cows Putting on the Ritz

Cadbury has launched A Glass and a Half Full of Smoothness in New Zealand with tap dancing cows, doing the moves to Fred Astaire’s song, “Putting on the Ritz”. The ad screened for the first time this week during the first ad break of Desperate Housewives. The spot, online at, opens with a close up of a black and white cow’s face before heading into the slick little number. The ad finishes with the cow pushing aside mirrors and opening a purple curtain to finish with an ensemble act.

Trying hard to look like Gary Cooper

If you’re blue and you don’t where to go to
Why don’t you go where fashion sits?

  • Nice, which ad agency made it, though. Thought the account was moved away from Fallon in London.

  • What a shameless copycat! It’s a 1993 Bronze Lion…

The most pathetic follow up to the genius gorilla ad. This ad reeks of cheap NZ creative and it has THE most insufferable backing track ‘Puttin’ on the Ritz’. Please leave the clever stuff to the English. Juan Cabarel at Fallon made a very unusual and funny ad – NZ following it with this stupid slapstick crap will do harm to a sinking brand. It’s pure mad cow creative.
