Break Free on No Smoking Day

The 2010 No Smoking Day campaign is being promoted in the UK with a remake of the classic Queen music video, “I want to break free”. Mark Sanders, from Queen tribute act, “Pure Magic“, wears suspenders and high heels, miming to the original track from 1984. Dragon’s Den star Duncan Bannatyne dons a full drag outfit wearing pearl earrings, a grey wig and slippers, to play the ‘granny’ role made famous by bassist John Deacon in the original Queen video. No Smoking Day 2010 takes place on Wednesday 10 March. In its 27th year, this annual campaign sees nearly one million smokers quit each year. Instructions are given at wequit.co.uk for a competition to come up with the best rendition of the Break Free video.

No Smoking Break Free Lyrics

I want to break free
And live life smoke free
I want to break free from your lies
My health is denied, but I’ve tried and I’ve tried

I don’t need you
I’ve want to break free
God knows, God knows I want to break free

It’s strange but it’s true
I can’t get over the way you harm me like you do
But I have to be sure
When I walk out that door
Oh how I want to be smoke-free,
Oh how I want to break free,
Oh how I want to break free

But life must go on
I will get used to, living without, living without,
Living without cigs by my side
I don’t want to die young, hey
God knows, got to make it on my own
So ciggie can’t you see
God knows, God knows, God knows
I want to break free
