BP Apologize and Clean Up

Tony Hayward, chief executive officer for BP, has fronted a public apology in a television commercial to the people impacted by the oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico. The video is hosted on the BP Youtube channel set up on May 18, a month after the disastrous explosion on the oil rig. BP is feeding updates and inviting conversation on the Gulf of Mexico oil spill on the BP America Facebook page. The integrated advertising campaign, worth $50 million, is crucial for the company’s communication with the public, but has been criticized by Barack Obama for drawing resources away from the clean up campaign.
