Maurice Sendak’s classic book Where the Wild Things Are is coming to the big screen in an adventure tale for every generation directed by Spike Jonze. The trailer, featuring “Wake Up” by Arcade Fire, has been launched in anticipation of the film’s debut in October 2009.

Where The Wild Things Are tells the story of Max (Max Records), a boy with anger issues, who creates a world of monsters after being sent to his room without supper. He is crowned the king of the monsters and learns about love from a huge monster called Carol (voiced by James Gandolfini). “Inside all of us is a Wild Thing.”

Filming was shot in Australia in 2006 by director Spike Jonze via with Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros Pictures, with director of photography Lance Acord, executive producers Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni and Bruce Berman, producers Tom Hanks, Gary Goetzman, Maurice Sendak, John Carls and Vincent Landay. Screenplay was written by Spike Jonze and Dave Eggers.

Cast includes Catherine Keener, Max Records, Mark Ruffalo, Lauren Ambrose, James Gandolfini and Forest Whitaker.

Music is by Karen O and Carter Burwell.
