The WWF Earth Hour 2009 campaign is being launched this year with the help of an integrated campaign featuring the work of Shepard Fairey, the artist who created the iconic ‘Hope’, ‘Change’ and ‘Progress’ posters of Barack Obama in the recent US Presidential election. The campaign is building on two years momentum in the Earth Hour project, this time aiming to get one billion people from around the world to switch off their lights for an hour on March 28.
The Earth Hour campaign is setting up a global election between two competing candidates, Earth and global warming. People around the world will be urged to ‘VOTE EARTH’, by switching off their lights. The results will be presented at the United Nations Climate Change Conference being held in Copenhagen, December 7 – 18, 2009.
The Leo Burnett team in Sydney working on the Earth Hour project includes CEO Todd Sampson, executive creative director Andy DiLallo and Jay Benjamin, creative team Michael Canning and Kieran Antil.
