Vodafone in Ireland demonstrated the power of a mobile phone in Christmas shopping this year with “White Christmas”, a TV advert featuring a young man whose girl is always dreaming of a white Christmas.

Peter’s girl is always dreaming of a white Christmas, a real one, like in 1981. The video comes across as an amateur effort, telling the story of a shopper who uses his phone to discover the online story of a 10 year old Forest Pearson. With online status, text messages and a phone call to Joe, he can make it happen.

It’s certainly got the feel of a “do it yourself” project.
