The Simpsons New Opening Sequence on HD

Fox has released the opening title sequence for the new HDTV version of The Simpsons launched on Sunday 15th February. The new version of the television show is timed to be viewed by the millions of US citizens who are preparing for the end of analog television in the United States.

The first episode in HD format, “Take My Life, Please”, features the fresh title sequence, with updates to reflect the shift in times from 1989 to 2009. Lisa’s schoolmates are shown playing on a Nintendo DS games console. The Simpson family is watching a flat-screen TV. Marge’s supermarket bill has gone from $243.2 to $486.52. The version shown here is an extended screening, with a chase scene involving a wayward couch on its way to Venice, the Taj Mahal and outer space.
